WASHINGTON, MO — The city of Washington is mourning the loss of Eric M. Locher, a beloved husband, father, and friend who tragically passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 42. Known for his unwavering love for family, community, and Missouri sports, Eric leaves behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and spirited passion.
Born on April 12, 1983, in Washington, Eric was the son of Elmer “Moe” Locher and Barbara (née LaBoube). A proud graduate of St. Francis Borgia High School and Ranken Technical College, Eric built both a successful career and a meaningful life rooted deeply in the town he loved. He was united in marriage to Brittany Maniaci on January 12, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and together they raised three beautiful children: Brooks, Reese, and Beau.
Eric was a loyal employee of ELS Properties, but his true pride came from being a father and an active member of his community. A passionate fan of Mizzou football and basketball, as well as the St. Louis Cardinals, Eric rarely missed a game — a reflection of his steadfast loyalty and love for sports. His enthusiasm extended beyond spectating; he shared his knowledge and spirit with local youth by coaching in the Washington Junior Football League.
Friends and family recall Eric’s vibrant energy, his generous heart, and his ability to light up any room with his humor and smile. He was a man of faith, family, and fierce devotion — someone who made every moment count, especially those spent with his children.
Eric is preceded in death by his grandparents, his brother Christopher Locher, and his uncle Brian Schriewer. He is survived by his loving wife, Brittany Locher; his three children, Brooks, Reese, and Beau; his parents, Moe and Barb Locher; his brother, Mark (Karrie) Locher; his in-laws, Mike and Beth Maniaci; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A public visitation will take place on Sunday, July 20, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, July 21, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, with burial at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. In honor of Eric’s sports spirit, guests are encouraged to wear St. Louis Cardinals or Mizzou Tigers gear to the visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eric Locher Memorial Fund c/o Bank of Washington.
Though Eric’s time on earth was far too short, the impact he made on his family, friends, and community will live on through every story, every game-day cheer, and every act of kindness shared in his memory.
Rest in peace, Eric. You will forever be part of the heart of Washington.
