Tributes Pour in for Former Norwich City Player Devonte Aransibia
Devonte Aransibia, a former Norwich City academy player, has tragically passed away at the age of 26. His death was confirmed by both Norwich City and Maidstone United, the club he had been playing for since May 2023.
The cause of Aransibia’s death has not been disclosed. Bill Williams, director of football at Maidstone United, expressed his shock and sadness at the news, saying: “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
Aransibia was remembered as a kind and compassionate person who had a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. A GoFundMe page set up to support his family has raised over £10,900.
Career and Tributes
Aransibia joined Norwich City’s academy in 2013 and progressed through the youth age groups. After leaving the club in 2019, he went on to play for several non-league clubs, including Chelmsford, Welling, and Royston Town.
Norwich City will hold a “period of applause” before their Sky Bet Championship fixture against Preston North End, and all staff will wear black armbands. Maidstone United will also observe a minute’s silence before their game against Aveley.
