HARTFORD CITY, IN — With great sorrow and reverence, the community of Blackford County mourns the passing of Teresa Sue (Thrailkill) Conner, who died peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the age of 64. Her departure marks the loss of a soul whose quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering love touched countless lives.
Born on September 4, 1960, in Columbia City, Teresa’s life was a testimony to the power of kindness, devotion, and selfless service. She was the gentle heartbeat of her family, the warm embrace to a friend in need, and a beacon of love in a world that often forgets how powerful a caring word or simple act of generosity can be.
A Life Rooted in Love and Service
A proud 1979 graduate of Blackford High School, Teresa dedicated much of her life to shaping the lives of children—first through her early work at St. John’s Riedman Memorial School, and later through her many impactful years within the Blackford County Schools. Teachers, staff, students, and parents alike knew her not just as a professional, but as a true source of comfort, reliability, and encouragement.
Her love extended far beyond the classroom. Married to her beloved husband Kevin Conner for 43 years, the two built a life of steadfast love and mutual respect—a foundation that supported generations. Together, they raised their daughters Danielle (Clint) Dickey and Kaitlin (J.W.) Rinker, passing on the values of humility, hard work, and unconditional love.
Teresa was a proud and nurturing grandmother to Kennedy Dickey (and fiancé Jaden Reum), Cole Dickey, Conner Dickey, and Brantley Rinker. Her role as “Mimi” brought her the greatest joy, and her love for them was boundless.
A Beloved Pillar in Her Community
Teresa’s warmth extended to a wide circle of loved ones: her brother Gary (Sherry) Thrailkill, sister-in-law Kimberlee “Kim” Sherbrooke, and chosen son Jason Burnside (Kimberly) and their two children. Her circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends—many of whom became family by heart—will carry her spirit with them in every gathering and every kind gesture.
Whether she was cooking a favorite dish, offering a listening ear, or quietly helping someone in need, Teresa did everything with heart. She never sought the spotlight, yet her impact was always quietly powerful.
Honoring a Life So Beautifully Lived
Visitation for Teresa will be held on Tuesday, July 15, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home in Hartford City. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, July 16, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Glenn Greiner of Union Chapel Ministries officiating. Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery, west of Muncie.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions in Teresa’s name to benefit local children in need—a cause that mirrors the compassion and care Teresa showed throughout her life. Donations can be made through Waters Funeral Home or Citizens State Bank, 1515 N. Walnut Street, Hartford City, IN.
A Legacy That Will Never Fade
As the community prepares to say goodbye, they do so with broken hearts—but also with deep gratitude. Teresa Sue Conner lived a life that mattered. She gave love without limits, offered comfort without question, and left a mark on every heart she touched.
In every shared memory, every meal passed around the table, every gentle act of kindness—her spirit lives on.
