Bay Village, OH — The Bay Village community is reeling from the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Jeremy Meduri, a trailblazing educator and the beloved founder of Insight Academy. Jeremy passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2025, at the age of 42, leaving behind a powerful legacy of educational innovation, compassion, and community leadership.
Jeremy Meduri was more than an educator — he was a visionary. As the founder of Insight Academy, he reimagined what education could be, creating a student-first environment that celebrated individuality, fostered emotional intelligence, and empowered young minds to think boldly and independently. Since its founding in 2015, Insight Academy has become a beacon of hope and excellence, thanks to Jeremy’s relentless dedication and heartfelt leadership.
Born on March 14, 1983, in Cleveland, Jeremy was raised in Bay Village by his parents, Lucia and Antonio Meduri, who instilled in him a deep love for learning and service. After graduating valedictorian from Bay High School in 2001, he pursued higher education at The Ohio State University and later earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Kent State University.
Jeremy’s early years in the classroom revealed a rare talent — not just for teaching, but for inspiring. His decade-long career as a teacher and curriculum coordinator paved the way for his founding of Insight Academy, where his progressive philosophies on education came to life. Under his guidance, students flourished through project-based learning, real-world mentorships, and a deep culture of inclusion and respect.
Friends and colleagues describe Jeremy as tireless in his pursuit of educational equity. He traveled throughout Ohio to train fellow educators, delivered keynote addresses at national conferences, and contributed articles that shaped progressive instructional practices across the country. His name became synonymous with passion, innovation, and heart.
Yet for all of his professional accolades, Jeremy’s proudest role was that of husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife, Dr. Emily Meduri, a respected pediatric psychologist; their two children, Sophia (10) and Lucas (7); his parents; and his brother, Marco. Jeremy was deeply devoted to his family — spending weekends coaching soccer, exploring the Lake Erie shoreline, and sharing books, stories, and laughter at home.
In the wake of his passing, a wave of tributes has flooded in from students, educators, and leaders alike. A candlelight vigil held by Insight Academy students turned into a moving tribute of gratitude and love, where countless lives touched by Jeremy shared stories of his mentorship and belief in their potential. Mayor Samantha Richards has declared July 10 “Jeremy Meduri Day,” in honor of his enduring impact on the city’s youth and future.
Funeral services will be held on July 11 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Bay Village, with visitation at 10:00 AM and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. A community reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the Meduri family requests donations be made to the Jeremy Meduri Memorial Scholarship Fund, created to support Insight Academy students pursuing careers in education.
Though Jeremy Meduri’s life ended far too soon, his legacy is eternal. In every student he believed in, in every teacher he inspired, and in every lesson he gave — not just in academics, but in empathy, resilience, and hope — his spirit lives on.
Rest in peace, Jeremy. Your light will continue to guide generations to come.
