LEXINGTON, N.C. — A tragic act of violence has rocked the Lexington community following a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 26-year-old Jyisaiah Cuthrell on Tuesday. Officers with the Lexington Police Department responded to reports of gunfire and arrived at a residence to find Cuthrell lying on the front porch, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite efforts by emergency responders, Cuthrell was pronounced dead at the scene. His sudden and violent death has left family, friends, and neighbors in mourning, as they remember him as a young man taken far too soon.
Authorities quickly identified and arrested 21-year-old Jarvis Lewis Carroll, also of Lexington, in connection with the shooting. Carroll is now facing serious charges, and an investigation into the motive behind the violence is ongoing.
This heartbreaking incident serves as yet another reminder of the devastating impact gun violence has on communities across the country. A vigil is being planned in honor of Cuthrell, as loved ones gather to grieve, remember, and seek justice.
