MIDDLEBOROUGH, MA — A quiet neighborhood on Fairview Street was shaken by tragedy Saturday night as 41-year-old Andrew Horsman was arrested and charged in the fatal stabbing of 66-year-old Paul Pomerleau, his mother’s longtime partner.
According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, the violent incident unfolded at approximately 8:03 p.m. on June 28, when multiple 911 calls reported a disturbance and a stabbing at 19 Fairview Street, a home owned by Horsman’s mother, Tammy L. Horsman.
Responding officers and emergency medical personnel found Paul Pomerleau suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Morton Hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead at 8:52 p.m.
Witnesses at the scene described a heated argument between Horsman and Pomerleau that escalated to violence. Based on those accounts and other evidence, police quickly identified Andrew Horsman as the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident near the residence, just hours after the altercation occurred.
The investigation, led by Middleborough Police, Massachusetts State Police, and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, is ongoing. Authorities confirmed that an arrest warrant had been obtained charging Horsman with one count of murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday, June 30, in Wareham District Court.
This tragic loss has left the local community stunned, and those close to the family are grappling with unimaginable grief. Friends described Pomerleau as a kind and steady presence in the lives of those around him, with a deep devotion to Tammy Horsman and her family.
“It’s just heartbreaking,” a neighbor said. “No one could have seen this coming. Paul was such a gentle man.”
As the investigation continues and legal proceedings begin, the Middleborough community is left reeling from the devastating loss and the tragic circumstances that led to it.
